St Helens.

At 1.45pm, 19 November, the wife and I were on our way to a large electrical store in St Helens, Merseyside.
Driving through the Haydock area via Pennington Lane. The road starts on a high hill goes down into a dip then rises again after about 1 mile.
Whilst driving down from the top of the hill we noticed a large saucer shaped object travelling in a descending motion about 15 feet above a row of semi-detached houses about a mile away. The object appeared to land on derelict land to the left of the houses, unfortunately it would not be visible from the road near to the area, as the ground is rough and covered with deep excavations.
The object was a definite saucer shaped with a scalloped under-edge, silver coloured and totally silent.
I could find no way by car to reach the area and on-foot it could be dangerous.
On getting as close as we could to the site of the possible landing, we found it to be concealed by spoil tips which were quite high making it impossible to observe the scene.
On later investigation, we discovered that the area in question is `littered` by a large number of very deep abandoned coalmines.
Though we stayed in the vicinity for a while we didn’t sight the object again.
